Southern Africa’s youth will converge in Harare this October for the Southern African Youth Development Council (SAYDC 3.2), a high-level regional dialogue aimed at accelerating youth inclusion in innovation and entrepreneurship to unlock sustainable economic growth and industrial development.
The event, scheduled to run from October 3 to 5, 2025, will be hosted in Harare, Zimbabwe, under the theme:
“Youth Inclusion in Innovation and Entrepreneurship to Unlock Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth and Development Towards an Industrialised SADC.”
Organized by Intercontinental Youth Connect (IYC), SAYDC 3.2 builds on the momentum from its successful previous edition in Botswana, promising to bring together hundreds of young people, policymakers, development partners, civil society leaders and private sector actors from across the SADC region and beyond.
A Platform for Action, Not Just Conversation
This year’s edition will focus on equipping young people with practical tools and cross-border collaboration strategies to participate meaningfully in regional development. Sessions will cover:
- Innovation and youth-led enterprises.
- Cross-sectoral financing for startups.
- Policy inclusion and youth participation in governance.
- Digital transformation and entrepreneurship for rural and urban youth.
- Peacebuilding, climate action, and gender-responsive economic strategies.
“Join us for a high-impact summit designed to ignite partnerships, spark innovation and accelerate youth-led investment and entrepreneurship across continents. Together, let’s build a future where youth lead, invest and inspire change,” said IYC in a statement.
All Are Welcome: “Development Is Everyone’s Responsibility”
The Council welcomes participants from all backgrounds and nationalities, asserting that the future of Southern Africa hinges on collaborative, inclusive youth development.
“Everyone is eligible because development of our communities is everyone’s responsibility,” the organizers emphasized.

Toward a Unified Youth Force for Development
Beyond technical workshops and panels, SAYDC 3.2 will also feature intercultural exchanges, artistic showcases and networking sessions aimed at promoting peace, unity and partnership in the SADC region.
Delegates will have opportunities to forge action plans, build business synergies and launch cross-border collaborations.
This gathering comes at a time when SADC countries are placing renewed emphasis on industrialisation, job creation and inclusive economic growth. With youth unemployment rates still alarmingly high, forums like SAYDC offer a critical avenue for mobilising solutions from the ground up.
As the countdown to October begins, Harare is preparing to welcome the next generation of entrepreneurs, innovators and changemakers young people determined to move from dialogue to action in building a prosperous and industrialised Southern Africa.
