In a world where fast food is everywhere, and diet-related health issues are on the rise, some young entrepreneurs are working hard to create healthy food options. One of these entrepreneurs is Valentine Shoti, a talented young inventor from Zimbabwe.
The alarming rise of diet-related health issues is a stark reminder of the consequences of unhealthy eating. Obesity, diabetes, and heart disease are just a few of the many conditions that are increasingly affecting people of all ages.
The World Health Organization estimates that over 1.9 billion adults worldwide are overweight, with many more at risk of developing related health problems.
In Zimbabwe, where Valentine Shoti is based, non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and heart disease are now among the leading causes of death.
The good news is that many of these health issues can be prevented or managed through simple changes to diet and lifestyle.
Shoti’s story is inspiring. She grew up in a challenging situation, where she had to take care of her siblings and herself.
Her entrepreneurial spirit was fueled by a deeper purpose. After the tragic loss of both her parents, she found herself shouldering the responsibility of caring for her younger siblings.
Determined to provide for their well-being, Valentine set out to create a product that could generate a steady income.
Her goal was to earn enough to cover their school fees, monthly rent, and food expenses.
With Organut, she has not only achieved her goal but has also created a sustainable business that is transforming the lives of her family and community.
But instead of giving up, Valentine used her creativity to come up with a solution. She invented a delicious and healthy peanut butter that is flavored with herbs.
Shoti launched her first branded and flavoured peanut butter in 2013.
In 2014, she introduced the product at her school and in her community and it was well recived.
Shoti later registered her business as the founder and chief executive officer of Organut manufactures Pvt limited Company.
She has since set up a mini factory in Chikahwata village, Dema
Her peanut butter is special because it’s the first of its kind in Zimbabwe. She’s received many awards and recognition for her invention, including 20 merit awards and special recognition from organizations like the United Nations.
What’s even more amazing about Valentine’s story is that she created her peanut butter business to help support her family. She’s a true entrepreneur and a role model for young people everywhere.
Shoti’s brainchild, Organut, is a game-changing product that’s not only 100% organic but also packed with health benefits.
Her mission is to revolutionize the way people eat, empowering them to make informed choices that can transform their health. She firmly believes that a healthy diet is the key to a longer, happier life.
What sets Organut apart is its unique blend of herbal plants, carefully crafted to create a delicious and nutritious product.
“I believe what we eat determines our lifespan. Together we can eat better and maintain good health. My peanut butter products come in a variety of flavours, something which has never been done before in Africa,” said Shoti.
Shoti’s inspiration for Organut came from a very personal place – her 84-year-old grandmother, who suffered from a range of health issues, including diabetes, arthritis, and high blood pressure.
She wanted to find a way to help her grandmother benefit from the healing properties of herbs, without having to endure their bitter taste and smell.
Tragically, her grandmother passed away earlier this year, but her legacy lives on through Organut.
Shoti’s innovative product has broken new ground in Zimbabwe and Africa, offering consumers a range of mouth-watering flavors that make healthy eating a joy.
In 2022, Valentine Shoti’s innovative business caught the attention of ZimTrade, and she was handpicked to join the prestigious NEXT She Exporters program.
This exclusive initiative identifies and empowers high-potential, women-led businesses to tap into global markets.
As part of this elite group, Valentine embarked on an intensive year-long training and mentorship program, designed to equip her business with the skills and expertise needed to succeed in the export market.
“Humbled to be among the chosen women led innovative businesses by ZimTrade.
“To be the NEXT She Exporters.
Undergoing a full year of being fully trained and equipped in our business for export readiness,” posted Shoti.
This enabled her to start travelling abroad to seek export markets for her products and she has attended business seminars in countries such as the United Arab Emirates.
With Organut, she is not only honoring her grandmother’s memory but also empowering a new generation of health-conscious consumers to take control of their well-being.
However, Shoti’s impact goes far beyond her innovative products. She is also passionate about giving back to her community, particularly to those who need it most.
Through her feeding scheme, Shoti provides nutritious meals to over 3,000 children, helping to combat hunger and malnutrition in her community.
This selfless initiative not only reflects her kindness and generosity but also underscores her commitment to creating a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
