A new digital gateway is transforming how Tanzanian entrepreneurs connect with the world, thanks to the vision and drive of three Tanzanians living in the United Kingdom.
Launched in April 2025, Tanzania Link Portal was created by Goodluck Mboya, Joseph Ndilla and Shivani Patel, three Tanzanian professionals who saw an opportunity to bridge long-standing gaps between Tanzania, its diaspora and UK institutions. Their mission was to build a simple, effective platform that could help Tanzanians access opportunities in trade, education, tourism and employment, both locally and internationally. Since its launch, the portal has already attracted more than 3,000 entrepreneurs from Tanzania and the UK, a clear sign that the demand for such a tool is real and growing.
“Tanzania Link is a bridge,” said Mboya, who leads the platform’s technology team. “It connects people, capital and ideas, and it’s proudly Tanzanian.”
Entrepreneurs can use Tanzania Link to explore direct investment options, form business partnerships and access local and international markets under Tanzania’s investment regulations. The platform also supports job seekers, students and professionals by offering up-to-date information on scholarships, exchange programs and career opportunities.
“We’re already seeing thousands of users begin to build connections, from agricultural exporters to tech founders,” noted Joseph Ndilla, Director of Business for Tanzania Link. He emphasized that the platform empowers users to take action, not just browse information.
What sets the portal apart is how it combines business services with cultural and tourism promotion. A special section targets UK residents interested in visiting or investing in Tanzania and Zanzibar, helping to strengthen people-to-people ties and economic engagement.
Shivani Patel, one of the co-founders, highlighted how the portal also addresses practical challenges. “Many Tanzanians struggle to navigate foreign markets or understand international regulations. We offer business development support and legal guidance to make the path clearer,” she said.
The Tanzania Link Portal was officially launched at a high-level event in London, officiated by Zanzibar President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi. The launch was attended by key dignitaries, including First Lady Mama Mariam Mwinyi, Tanzania’s High Commissioner to the UK Mbelwa Kairuki and Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Cosato Chumi. Ambassador Kairuki praised the portal as “a timely initiative aligned with the government’s goal of boosting trade, investment and international collaboration through technology.” He reaffirmed the High Commission’s support for the platform and its founders.
The platform is not just a digital tool, it represents a broader shift in how the Tanzanian diaspora contributes to national development. It reflects the country’s commitment to economic diplomacy and innovation, championed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Built with accessibility, security and user engagement in mind, Tanzania Link aims to grow with its users. Upcoming features include a virtual mentorship program, investment forums and cultural exchange opportunities, each designed to deepen collaboration between Tanzanian and UK communities.
As Tanzania’s global footprint grows, platforms like Tanzania Link show how homegrown solutions can drive international partnerships, unlock new opportunities and empower entrepreneurs to lead the way.
