Entrepreneurs and tech professionals across North Africa are finding new global opportunities thanks to LyRise, an Egyptian startup that is using artificial intelligence to solve one of today’s most urgent hiring challenges, connecting high-potential talent in emerging markets with companies that need their expertise.

For early-stage businesses, particularly in the fast-moving AI sector, finding the right talent can be a dealbreaker. LyRise is stepping in to level the playing field by giving startups and SMEs in the US, UK and Europe access to affordable, top-tier AI engineers from regions like Egypt, Nigeria and Kenya. This initiative is not only helping businesses scale faster but also creating life-changing work opportunities for skilled professionals who are often overlooked due to geographic or language barriers.

“We built LyRise to address a clear mismatch,” said co-founder Mohamed Mostafa Hassan. “While companies in developed markets are struggling to fill AI roles, there’s a wealth of untapped talent in Africa. Our platform exists to connect the two.”

LyRise started by launching a smart talent matcher that uses large language models (LLMs) to deeply understand job descriptions and match them with vetted engineers from a curated network. It later introduced “Plug-n-Hire,” an AI-powered HR assistant that streamlines the entire recruitment process, from finding talent to testing and hiring.

The startup’s focus is unique. Unlike broader hiring platforms like Toptal or Andela, LyRise was built specifically for AI recruitment. Its combination of automation and human curation ensures faster, more cost-effective hires, while remaining inclusive to talent from underserved regions.

“Traditional hiring is slow and expensive,” Hassan explained. “And many brilliant engineers are left out simply because they’re not in Silicon Valley or don’t speak perfect English. We’re changing that.”

So far, LyRise has facilitated dozens of placements for AI roles, working with clients who typically have AI budgets starting from $3,000 per month, per role. The startup operates on a commission-based model, earning a percentage of each client’s monthly hiring spend. This not only ensures alignment with client success but also provides a steady stream of recurring revenue to support product development and infrastructure.

LyRise’s impact has been recognized by international investors and accelerator programs, validating both its mission and business model. The startup is currently funded through a mix of investment, grants, internal revenue and support from global venture platforms.

With plans to expand into Gulf countries and further across Africa, LyRise is positioning itself as a key player in the global AI hiring space, one that centers equity, efficiency and opportunity.

As demand for AI talent continues to surge, LyRise is proving that the next wave of innovation won’t just come from Silicon Valley, it will be powered by bold startups, visionary entrepreneurs and brilliant minds from across the Global South.
