In September 2025, Huawei Technologies Morocco launched the Huawei Developer Competition 2025, a national initiative designed to drive Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation and support Morocco’s digital transformation. The competition, which runs until December, offers a platform for young developers to design creative solutions that address real-world challenges using technology. This initiative is part of the partnership between Huawei and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Department of Communication, established in October 2024 during the Gaming Startups Meeting Day. Together, the two institutions aim to develop digital talent, strengthen Morocco’s innovation ecosystem and prepare youth for future opportunities in the global technology landscape.

Driving Morocco’s AI and Digital Transformation

The Huawei Developer Competition 2025 is a strategic investment in Morocco’s digital future. Through this initiative, Huawei aims to support young developers in gaining practical experience, accessing advanced technological tools and collaborating on AI-driven projects that address real-world challenges.

All registered Moroccan developers will receive financial support vouchers valued between $100 and $200 USD, a gesture that reflects Huawei’s commitment to inclusivity and broad participation. These vouchers will help reduce barriers for young people interested in developing and testing their ideas.

The competition will award cash prizes ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 USD to the most outstanding participants, recognizing both creativity and technical excellence. In total, the program will distribute $20,000 USD in prizes.

According to Huawei Morocco, this effort aligns with the company’s goal of strengthening local innovation ecosystems by promoting access to its global cloud technologies. “The Huawei Developer Competition is our flagship event for global ICT developers,” the company stated. “We open our technologies, capabilities and tools via APIs for developers to easily build, run and release applications on the cloud.”

By sharing its digital infrastructure and expertise, Huawei hopes to inspire young Moroccans to create technology that not only serves local needs but can also compete globally.

Creating Opportunities for All Developers

Participation in the Huawei Developer Competition 2025 is open to a wide range of individuals and organizations, including students, startups, enterprises and independent developers. Interested participants can compete solo or as part of a team of up to five members. Once registered, participants can take part in training camps designed to help them sharpen their technical skills and understand how to use Huawei’s development tools effectively.

The competition follows a clear timeline, ensuring fairness and structured progression for all participants:

  • Official website launch: September 8, 2025
  • Sign-up and Training Phase: September to October 2025
  • Submissions: November 2025
  • Preliminary and Semifinal Rounds: November 2025
  • Final Competition and Award Ceremony: December 2025

During the preliminary and semifinal rounds, participants will present their projects to a panel of judges for evaluation. Finalists will then showcase their innovations onsite in December 2025, where the best projects will be recognized and rewarded.

Huawei also emphasizes the importance of authenticity in submissions, urging participants to provide accurate information during registration. For enterprises, this includes valid company registration details and for students, confirmation of school affiliation.

A Pathway for Morocco’s Digital Future

The Huawei Developer Competition 2025 represents a significant opportunity for Morocco’s youth to step into the fast-evolving world of AI and cloud technologies. Beyond the competition itself, it serves as a platform for capacity building, innovation and collaboration between the private and public sectors.

By equipping young developers with hands-on skills, mentorship and access to global digital tools, Huawei and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication are helping Morocco move closer to its goal of becoming a regional hub for technology and innovation.

As the competition progresses, it is expected to attract hundreds of participants from across the Kingdom, with more than 170 teams and over 500 participants anticipated. These figures reflect the growing enthusiasm among Moroccan youth to contribute to the country’s digital transformation journey.

Ultimately, the Huawei Developer Competition 2025 is not just about coding, it’s about empowering Morocco’s young minds to turn creative ideas into real-world solutions that can transform industries and improve lives. By fostering innovation at the grassroots level, Huawei and its partners are paving the way for a smarter, more connected and digitally capable Morocco.
