Located in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria, a pioneering company is making waves in the blockchain space. Bchain Africa is on a mission to make blockchain education accessible to everyone, harnessing the potential of this transformative technology to drive innovation and socio-economic growth across the African continent.

According to the company’s founder, Femi Adegolu, “Our mission is simple: to empower Africans with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a blockchain-driven world. We believe that when more people understand how blockchain works, the more innovation we’ll see, not just in Nigeria, but across the entire African continent.”

Bchain Africa is a trailblazing platform that focuses on promoting the adoption of blockchain technology through Web 3.0 education. With a strong commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 5, 8, and 17, the company aims to create positive socio-economic impacts among youth in Africa.

So, what is blockchain technology, and why is it so important?

In simple terms, blockchain is a decentralized, digital ledger that records transactions and data across a network of computers. It’s the underlying technology behind cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, but its applications extend far beyond digital currency.

Blockchain technology has the potential to transform various industries, including finance, supply chain management, healthcare, and education. Its decentralized architecture, immutability, and transparency provide a secure, efficient, and trustworthy way to conduct transactions and store data.

Bchain Africa’s target audience includes young high school graduates, undergraduates, university graduates, corporate workers, business owners, and the less privileged who lack access to laptops and the internet. The company has set a bold goal of educating over one million Africans about blockchain technology within the next five years, starting in Nigeria and expanding to other parts of the continent.

Through its Bchain Academy, the company offers a range of courses and training programs that cater to different skill levels and interests. From beginner-friendly introductions to blockchain basics to advanced courses on smart contract development and decentralized finance (DeFi), Bchain Africa is committed to providing high-quality education and training that prepares Africans for the jobs of the future.

As Bchain Africa continues to make headway in the blockchain space, its impact is being felt across the continent. By empowering Africans with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a blockchain-driven world, the company is helping drive innovation, entrepreneurship, and socio-economic growth.

In the words of Femi Adegolu: “The possibilities are endless. Asset tokenization, decentralized finance, supply chain transparency – these are not just buzzwords; they are the future. And we’re proud to be at the forefront of this movement, empowering Africans to take their rightful place in the global blockchain ecosystem.”

In October of this year, Bchain Africa achieved a major milestone by hosting a highly successful buildathon event in partnership with Base. The “Based Africa Buildathon” in Kenya brought together talented builders, developers, and creators from across Africa to design innovative on-chain applications that address local challenges. The event offered a unique opportunity for participants to showcase their skills and advance the on-chain ecosystem, with a staggering grand prize of over US$60,000 up for grabs. The buildathon was open to all builders with innovative ideas, and its success marked a significant step forward for Bchain Africa’s mission to promote blockchain education and adoption across the continent.

The Man Behind Bchain Africa

Femi Adegolu is a renowned entrepreneur, business administrator, sales and marketing professional, and project manager with nearly a decade of diverse experience. His journey into the world of blockchain began over four years ago, and since then, he has served as a board advisor, growth consultant, business development executive, partnerships lead, and a highly sought-after expert in the Web 3 space. As Femi himself notes, “I am passionate about forging strategic B2B/B2G partnerships that enable companies to seize groundbreaking opportunities and expand into new markets with global visibility.”

Femi’s passion for blockchain technology was inspired by his own experiences as an importer in Nigeria’s electronics market. In 2014, he struggled to send money abroad to suppliers in China, often relying on agents and waiting for days or weeks for transactions to be processed. However, with the advent of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, Femi saw an opportunity to solve this problem of global remittance and make international payments faster, more efficient, and more convenient. As he recalls, “It was super difficult to send money abroad as an importer… But today, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency have solved that problem of global remittance.”

This experience sparked Femi’s desire to empower others with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a blockchain-driven world. He founded Bchain Africa, a pioneering platform that promotes blockchain education and adoption across the continent. Through Bchain Africa, Femi aims to educate over one million Africans about blockchain technology within the next five years, starting in Nigeria and expanding to other parts of the continent. As he emphasizes, “My unwavering belief in the potential of decentralized technologies and blockchain solutions has fueled my passion for creating value in the Web 3 space and solving real-world challenges.”

With his extensive experience in the blockchain space, Femi has become a key contributor to the crypto space in Africa. He is a prominent member of SIBAN, the blockchain association in Nigeria, and has actively contributed to the growth of the crypto space through significant projects like Boundless Pay and the P2P conference. Femi is also a partner of the Blockchain for Good Alliance and a board advisor at Triq Games. His commitment to advancing blockchain education and adoption has made him a respected leader in the African blockchain community.

Two months ago, Femi was honored with a prestigious award from the Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers. This recognition honored his invaluable contribution to a thought-provoking session, where he explored the potential of blockchain technology in addressing pressing challenges within Nigeria’s real estate sector.

“This award isn’t just about individual excellence; it’s a testament to the tireless efforts and dedication of the entire Bchain Africa team.”
