The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones has announced a new Technology Hub that aims to give Egyptian startups stronger support and better growth opportunities. The hub will be based in the Nasr City Free Zone and will offer the essential tools and services needed for companies to expand locally and internationally. This initiative is part of a wider national effort to improve the business environment and reduce barriers that slow down early stage companies. It shows the country’s commitment to investing in innovation and creating a more open space for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.
A Support System Designed for Real Growth
The new Technology Hub will serve as a complete center for emerging companies that want to scale their operations and reach global markets. It will be developed with a specialized partner and will give startups access to space, infrastructure and the support they often lack in their early stages. Many young companies face challenges with tools, guidance and market access. The hub is built to solve these gaps and help them grow in a steady and organized way.
The launch took place during the final showcase of the Elevate Lab Program, an intensive training initiative for Egyptian entrepreneurs. The program is delivered with partners such as Enactus Egypt and Exits MENA under the guidance of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The showcase allowed promising startups to present their ideas to investors and experts. It also showed the strong potential of the local startup community and why a platform like the new hub is important at this moment.
During the event, GAFI CEO Hossam Heiba said that Egypt is living through a period full of new chances for young innovators. He explained that the environment is ready for ideas to grow if the right support is provided. He also stated that building a strong business climate is key because it helps young people turn their ideas into useful products and services that can support the economy.
GAFI has been working on improving procedures for startups by making company registration simpler through a one stop shop. The authority has also created a unit that focuses only on serving startups. This gives entrepreneurs direct access to services without unnecessary delays. Such steps help reduce the stress that often comes with early business formation and allow founders to focus on developing their solutions.
Another part of the support plan includes incentives and fee free services provided by GAFI. Since many new companies operate with limited budgets, these financial measures help them save money and invest more in innovation and expansion. These efforts reflect a clear national strategy that sees entrepreneurship as a core part of the country’s economic future.
Partnerships That Build a Stronger Ecosystem
The Technology Hub is strengthened by the cooperation between GAFI, the Financial Regulatory Authority and the Egyptian Tax Authority. Working together allows these institutions to provide a more organized and predictable environment for startups.
Mr. Heiba emphasized that entrepreneurs are not only business owners. They are future leaders who will shape the economy for many years. Supporting them today is an investment in long term national growth. This perspective places startups at the center of Egypt’s economic vision and shows why the country is taking big steps to build a strong startup ecosystem.
He also highlighted the importance of Egypt joining the European Union’s Horizon Europe program. This gives local research institutions and scientific centers a chance to work with international partners. It also opens new doors for knowledge exchange, research cooperation and funding. For startups, this global connection improves visibility and raises their chances of entering new markets.
