“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”
The saying derived from William Hickson’s 1836 poem, “Perseverance,” may have served as an inspirational foundation for Dr. Nakai Pearl. She recalls the significant challenges she faced at the beginning of her entrepreneurial journey, highlighting the difficulties and obstacles that often accompany the pursuit of business success.
“I went to several schools because of personal reasons but I started my entrepreneurial journey selling second-hand clothes before transitioning into running a salon. Due to economic challenges, I had to close the salon, but I did not stop pursuing business opportunities,” she says.
“One of the biggest challenges whe I staretd was business failure. I had to close some of my ventures, which was discouraging. However, I learned resilience and pivoted into more sustainable business models.”
One Woman, Two Companies
Dr. Nakai’s dedication and resilience have culminated in her achievement as the chief executive officer of two successful companies: Chrisano Pty Ltd and Opulent Group. Chrisano Pty Ltd specializes in offering consultancy services, business facilitation, and mentorship, along with various support mechanisms tailored for entrepreneurs.
Opulent Group, on the other hand, offers wellness and aesthetics services, including skincare, body sculpting as well as a very wide range of other beauty treatments.
An entrepreneur with over 10 years of experience, Dr. Nakai has been able to sucessfully juggle both roles.
“I have always been passionate about entrepreneurship and helping others navigate business challenges. My ventures in wellness and aesthetics were driven by the desire to provide quality, confidence-boosting solutions.
“My business facilitation company, on the other hand helps other entrepreneurs scale their businesses successfully,” she explains.
Continuous Learning Curve
Trying her hand in many business ventures at the same time has now yielded the desired effects for Dr. Nakai, who is leaving her mark and carving her name as an impactful Zimbabwean entrepreneur.
However, she also admits that her insatiable desire to learn as much as she can has also contributed to the breakthroughs she is achieving.
“I ventured into multiple sectors, including business facilitation, aesthetics, real estate, and wellness. I hold a doctorate in business and entrepreneurship, which has played a key role in shaping my approach to business growth and strategy.”
And even with a doctorate under her belt, she is not yet done academically and still has the discipline and motivation to go back to school.
“Additionally, I am currently enrolled into Sharpe Business Academy to upskill and Charis Bible College to broaden my spiritual knowledge.”
Challenges and Achievements
Along her entrepreneurship journey, Dr. Nakai has confronted many challenges that come with the complexities of business. In the face of the obstacles, she has remained resolute, driven by the passion and motivation to achieve her goals.
“Financial constraints were a major challenge, but through strategic planning and partnerships, I managed to scale up successfully. Additionally, navigating different industries required continuous learning, networking, and adapting to market demands,” she says.
It is the successes she has achieved, more than anything else, that gives Dr.Nakai hope of a bright future for her and her businesses.
“Among my notable achievements is successfully establishing multiple thriving businesses across different sectors, expanding my real estate footprint into South Africa, co-founding Female CEO International, which empowers women entrepreneurs as well as being recognized for my work in business and mentorship.”
Growth and Expansion
As both Chrisano and Opulent Group continue to grow, Dr. Nakai has firmly set her sights on establishing her brands and venturing to more areas.
“The businesses currently employ a number of staff across different sectors, including wellness, business facilitation, and real estate.
“As my businesses grow, I plan to employ more people, particularly in the wellness and hospitality sectors, and with the upcoming gaming and bumper car arena, more job opportunities will be created.
“The goals I have set for myself for the next five years include growing Opulent Group into a leading wellness and aesthetics brand, scaling Chrisano Pty Ltd into an internationally recognized business facilitation company.
“It is also important for me to continue empowering and mentoring women through Female CEO International,” Dr. Nakai says.
