When you first meet Dennis Wantate, it’s hard not to be inspired by his energy and optimism. The Ugandan entrepreneur and family man has a knack for turning dreams into reality, blending a love for technology and the arts into groundbreaking ventures. As the founder of Omziki Distribution and CEO of Nisoft Dynamics Ltd, Dennis is proof that ambition, resilience, and creativity can change lives.
A Humble Beginning in Kawempe
“My name is Wantate Dennis,” he begins with a smile. “I grew up in Kawempe, Ttula, Kampala, Uganda, where my curiosity knew no bounds as a child. People often remarked that I was the smartest they’d ever seen—always exploring and learning. At different times, I envisioned myself as an engineer, electrician, footballer, and later a computer wizard.”
But his curious nature didn’t mean he was loud. “In class, I was the quiet, reserved type—constantly observing, analyzing, and critiquing everything around me in my mind. It was savage!” His early passion for technology became the foundation of his career. “As I grew older, my love for the internet and computers intensified. I wanted the world to see the potential and talent I had in this space, which eventually led me to the bold decision to start my own IT company.”
Building the Nisoft Empire
In 2015, Dennis took a bold step and founded Nisoft Dynamics Ltd, a digital and technology agency dedicated to strategy, design, technology, and marketing. As he explains, “We help progressive companies deliver modern digital experiences with cutting-edge technology.” However, the journey to establishing the company wasn’t without its challenges. As a young entrepreneur, Dennis faced skepticism from friends and family, who doubted his ability to succeed at such a young age.
But Dennis was undeterred, driven by his vision and determination to prove his doubters wrong. “Age is just a number when you have a vision and the drive to make it real,” he says. Today, as CEO of Nisoft Dynamics, Dennis is a role model for young entrepreneurs in Uganda and beyond, inspiring others with his authentic and relatable journey.
Nisoft Dynamics Ltd is a dynamic technology company founded with the mission of driving digital transformation across industries. As Dennis explains, “As CEO and co-founder, I envisioned Nisoft Dynamics as a hub for innovative solutions that solve real-world challenges and empower businesses to thrive in the digital age.” Since its founding in 2015, Nisoft Dynamics has grown into a multi-faceted company with three specialized divisions.
These divisions include Omziki Distribution, a cutting-edge platform for music distribution; Afrobyt, a division focused on media and entertainment technology; and Nisoft Solutions, the core IT arm of the company, offering services like software development, IT consultancy, cybersecurity, and digital solutions for businesses of all sizes. “Afrobyt is all about providing creative solutions for Africa’s growing digital audience,” Dennis shares. “It’s a response to the unique needs of our market, from streaming to interactive digital content.”
“At Nisoft Dynamics, we believe in innovation, efficiency, and integrity,” Dennis says. “Each division is dedicated to meeting unique market demands, empowering businesses, and bridging gaps in technology and digital content delivery.”
Together, these divisions form a cohesive ecosystem that serves creatives, businesses, and enterprises looking to succeed in today’s fast-paced, digital world.
The Birth of Omziki Distribution
Dennis’s entrepreneurial journey didn’t stop with Nisoft Dynamics. In 2020, he founded Omziki Distribution, a digital music distribution platform aimed at putting African musicians on the global map. Dennis’s journey to creating Omziki was deeply personal. As a self-described “tech enthusiast” with a love for the arts, he saw a gap in how African musicians could monetize their craft. “The idea came to me when I realized that so many talented artists weren’t getting the recognition or earnings they deserved. I thought, ‘How can I fix this?’”
For Dennis, family played a big role in shaping his vision. “As a father, I want to leave something meaningful for my children. I want them to see that with determination and resilience, you can create something impactful, even when the odds are stacked against you.”
Omziki started small but quickly grew into a force in the African music industry. Its mission? To connect artists with the best digital tools and resources, ensuring they thrive in a competitive and fast-changing industry. “I’ve always believed creativity should have no boundaries,” Dennis says. “That’s why I started Omziki. I wanted to help artists share their work with the world, get paid for it, and connect with fans on a deeper level.”
With headquarters in Kampala and offices in Tanzania, Nigeria, and South Africa, Omziki helps artists distribute their music to platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, and YouTube Music. It also provides music publishing services to help songwriters collect royalties worldwide.
Navigating Challenges and Staying Ahead
Building a startup in a developing digital economy wasn’t easy. “When we launched, convincing artists and businesses to trust digital distribution was tough. Many didn’t understand how it worked or didn’t believe it could earn them real money,” Dennis recalls.
Despite the challenges, Dennis and his team refused to give up. Instead, they refocused their efforts on a three-pronged strategy. By constantly innovating and improving their tools, they stayed ahead of the curve in the rapidly evolving digital landscape. Strategic partnerships with global brands also enabled them to expand their reach and build credibility. Furthermore, Dennis and his team prioritized education, working closely with clients to help them maximize the potential of digital platforms and unlock new opportunities for growth.
“I’ve learned that setbacks aren’t failures—they’re lessons,” Dennis says with a smile. “Every challenge teaches you something new. The key is to stay adaptable and keep moving forward.”
One of the biggest changes Dennis has witnessed is the growing trust in digital transactions. “When we started, many people were skeptical. Now, thanks to better internet access and smartphones, more artists are seeing the value of streaming and online sales.”
Leadership With Heart
At the heart of Dennis’s leadership style is a deep respect for people. “I’ve learned that relationships are everything. Whether it’s your team, your clients, or your partners, building trust and creating a supportive environment is key.” He’s quick to credit his family for keeping him grounded. “My wife and kids are my biggest supporters. They remind me to balance my ambitions with my values and to lead with empathy and integrity.”
As an entrepreneur, Dennis is all about progress over perfection. “Launching a startup is never a straight path. It’s full of highs and lows, but every step forward is a victory. The most important thing is to stay focused on your vision.”
Success Stories and Future Plans
Dennis lights up when talking about Omziki’s success stories. “One of my favorite moments was helping an artist who struggled locally to chart internationally. Seeing their hard work pay off was amazing. That’s what keeps me motivated.”
Omziki isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The company is developing AI-powered tools to help artists understand their audiences better and is exploring new ventures in podcasting and audiobooks. “We want to support creators in every way possible,” Dennis shares.
Looking ahead, Dennis is confident about the future. “The road ahead is ambitious, but we’re ready for it. Omziki isn’t just about music—it’s about empowering creators to achieve their dreams.”
Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
For those dreaming of starting their own businesses, Dennis offers this advice: “Have a clear vision, stay flexible, and don’t give up. Success isn’t about doing everything perfectly—it’s about showing up every day and learning as you go. And remember, #EatThatFrog!” The phrase, which Dennis often uses, is a reminder to tackle the hardest tasks first and keep pushing forward.
The Omziki Mission
For Dennis, Omziki isn’t just a company—it’s a mission. “We’re here to make sure creators earn what they deserve and connect with audiences who value their art. Together, we can create a world where every creative voice is heard and rewarded.” And with Dennis at the helm, it’s clear that Omziki is on track to do just that.
Whether through Nisoft Dynamics or Omziki Distribution, Dennis’s goal remains the same: to empower creators and innovators. “Omziki isn’t just a business to me—it’s a mission. We’re here to make sure creators earn what they deserve and connect with audiences who value their art.”
From his humble beginnings in Kawempe to leading groundbreaking companies, Dennis Wantate is a shining example of what’s possible when passion meets purpose. “Together, we can create a world where every creative voice is heard and rewarded.”
