Across Africa, the push toward digital transformation is accelerating and the Next AI Horizon Pitch Competition is helping turn that momentum into real progress. The initiative gives startups the chance to demonstrate how AI can solve urgent problems in key sectors and supports them with exposure, networks and opportunities for growth. This year’s competition, held at the Global AI Congress Africa 2025 in Tunisia, highlighted the strength of homegrown innovation and the increasing confidence in African-built technology. The selected winners represent a mix of solutions that address challenges in agriculture, manufacturing, robotics, customer service and digital marketing.

The event ran from 17 to 19 November 2025 at Novation City in Sousse. Startups from across the continent presented ideas that are practical, scalable and grounded in real needs. The winners reflect the strength and diversity of Africa’s innovation ecosystem and show how AI can be used to improve operations, empower communities and support long-term economic development.

Startups Solving Real Problems Across Sectors

DeepLeaf
DeepLeaf is helping transform the future of farming. Its AI platform monitors crop health in real time and detects diseases, pests and nutrient shortages before they spread. This allows farmers and organizations to improve yields, reduce the use of chemicals and make more accurate decisions based on data. DeepLeaf’s solution supports food security, which remains one of the most important challenges on the continent. By building smarter agricultural systems, the startup shows how AI can play a direct role in strengthening Africa’s food supply.

OORB Open Organic Robotics
Tunisia’s OORB Open Organic Robotics brings robotics and AI learning closer to young people, developers and creators. The startup offers an open-source cloud platform that allows users to design robots, code with AI-assisted tools, simulate models and integrate ROS systems. It also provides a 3D-printed educational kit that supports hands-on learning and encourages experimentation. Alongside the platform is a strong community where learners and developers share projects and knowledge. OORB is building a pathway for more African youth to enter robotics, a field that will shape the digital economy for years to come.

the Mashroom
The Mashroom is bringing a new level of creativity to digital marketing. This Tunisian startup develops high-quality 3D product visuals that help brands cut production time and costs. These lifelike images support faster prototyping and improve ecommerce conversion by giving customers a clearer picture of what they are buying. As online commerce grows quickly across Africa, tools like Mashroom’s are helping companies compete globally and improve customer engagement with modern, affordable technology.

216Bot
216Bot is reshaping how companies manage customer interactions. Its AI-powered automation platform includes QA automation, AI voice agents, predictive CRM tools and a custom telephony system. This gives businesses a full ecosystem to automate, scale and personalize customer service. By reducing operational costs and improving service quality, 216Bot helps companies meet rising customer expectations. It also shows how AI can support businesses of all sizes as they move into more digital models of service delivery.

Amperon Technologies
Amperon Technologies is supporting the future of smart manufacturing. The startup offers a plug-and-play AI system that connects to any factory machine and reads its electrical “heartbeat” to deliver insights on performance, downtime, quality and machine health. It predicts failures before they happen, cuts energy waste and increases productivity. Some manufacturers have already seen a 40 percent improvement in runtime. Amperon aims to become the real-time intelligence layer for factories around the world and proves that African-built industrial technology can compete at the highest level.

A Platform That Strengthens the Future of African AI

The competition was guided by experienced jury members who offered thoughtful feedback and helped identify the startups with the strongest potential. Appreciation goes to Seif Elileh Boukadida, Hatoumata Magassa, Nada Shaheen, Taieb Lamine Ben Cheikh and Nada Bendhaw for their role in reviewing and selecting the winners.

Beyond identifying strong startups, the Next AI Horizon Pitch Competition plays a wider role in Africa’s innovation ecosystem. It brings together founders, investors, mentors and industry leaders, creating an environment where new ideas grow faster. It gives startups visibility, which is essential for attracting partnerships and investment. It also supports a culture of innovation where technology is used to solve real challenges that impact daily life and economic growth.

The 2025 edition made it clear that Africa is ready to shape its own future in artificial intelligence. The winners showed strong technical ability, a deep understanding of local needs and a commitment to building solutions that have long-term impact. From farms to factories and from classrooms to customer service centers, AI-driven tools are beginning to transform how African industries operate.

As these startups continue to develop their products and expand their markets, the impact of the competition will grow far beyond the event itself. The Next AI Horizon Pitch Competition is more than a gathering of ideas.
